I’ve never been very good at meditating. Pretty much as with taking a bath – I get restless and impatient and want it over and done with. I prefer showers. However; lately, I’ve step by step been involving some kind of meditation in my life. I do it my own way, and it seems to make my mind rest for a while, which is appreciated.
For the last couple of meditations I’ve done, I noticed something very peculiar. I sit on the sofa on my balcony, leaned back, and when I sit there with my eyes closed focusing on my breathing, something very weird happens.
There’s a rather large difference of activity on the left and right side of my face. My left side is calm, but my right eye and the right side of my forehead is very active. Not necessarily through motion, although my eye specifically seems to be moving quite a bit (compared to the left eye), but just more – active. It is so weird, and I have no idea of why this is. If anyone can come up with a plausible reason, please let me know because it’d be very interesting to find out. 🙂
I also opened my eyes to see what happened, and I’ll be damned; there seems to be more activity on my right side of the face.
However; I must admit that I am beginning to like the idea of meditation. I won’t make any promises – yet, but I do intend to implement this on a more regular basis than I’ve done before. As an extention, I am also going to start practicing yoga regularily, but I think that’ll have to wait a bit until my apartment is cooler. Right now, it’s too hot to move anymore than is absolutely necessary.
So what am I getting out of my meditation?
Focus. Today, I noticed that there were lots of thoughts popping around and about, but they were very much on the surface compared to my normal mindset. I could focus very much on my breathing and what it did to my body, and that’s where I am at presently. I intend to get further and further, and in the end I intend to reach that inbetween that I’ve written about before. But – one step at a time. 🙂
